About the Victorian Woodworkers Association
The Victorian Woodworkers Association is a community of professional and hobbyist makers, turners and designers with a collective passion to celebrate the natural beauty and form of wood. We aim to foster and promote Australian woodcraft as both an expressive and a functional medium as well as a viable career opportunity for new designers and makers.
We do this in several ways:
- Our School of Woodcraft, teaches 60 students per week to design and create their own unique timber pieces under the guidance of an experienced master craftsperson.
- The Incubator Program supports up to five emerging wood craftspeople and designers. The 3-year program includes the provision of studio space at our North Melbourne headquarters, access to a fully equipped machine room and opportunities to network with like-minded professionals.
- Events are hosted throughout the year, providing opportunities for Victorian woodworkers to hear from Australian industry leaders, network with our vibrant community of practice and learn new skills from each other.
- Our exhibitions shine a spotlight on the diverse creative talent of the Australian woodworking community. We showcase a broad mix of established and up-and-coming craftspeople.
